Lukla: Lukla is the most common starting point for the Everest Base Camp Trek. It is a small town in the Khumbu region of Nepal and serves as the gateway to the trek. Most trekkers fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and begin their trek from there.
Jiri: While Lukla has become the primary starting point for the Everest Base Camp Trek, some trekkers choose to start from Jiri. Jiri is a town located in the eastern part of Nepal, and the trek from Jiri adds an extra week or so to the overall duration. It is often chosen by trekkers seeking a longer and more gradual approach to acclimatization. And also because this was the route followed by Tenzing Norge Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary during the submit to the Everest peak.
Phaplu: Phaplu is another alternative starting point for the Everest Base Camp Trek. It is a village located in the Solu region of Nepal and offers a less crowded and more off-the-beaten-path experience compared to Lukla. This itinerary allows for gradual acclimatization and takes into account the additional days required to reach Namche Bazaar from Phaplu, they join the main Everest Base Camp trail at a later stage.
